Improving Institutional Governance in Central Banks
Central banks need to attain, and demonstrate, good governance. But arrangements for institutional governance – oversight of the central bank as an independent service organisation whose business activity should demonstrably achieve effectiveness and efficiency – have received relatively little attention. What does good practice demand? What can realistically be done to improve institutional governance in central banks? How can weaker institutional governance structures be ameliorated?
